My name is Tiera Shaunice Pryor; and I am the owner of Tiera Pryor's Sweetshop in Memphis, Tennessee. I graduated from Kingsbury High School in 2011, graduated from Southwest Tennessee Community College in 2014 and 2017. I majored in Culinary Arts (2014), Business Management (2017) and received my Associates of Applied Science Degree for both majors. I am a self-taught at home culinary artist who has a heavy passion for creating gorgeous cake art. With 11 years of hard work and experience, my cake decorating skills increased from my worst work to professional work. What I have learned along the way is to NOT let fear get in the way of my future. My purpose to serve the community with my homemade baked products and my mission to, "Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth".
My Story
In the year of 2012, eight months after my high school graduation, I was a quiet 20 year old woman who took a gap year with an undecided future. My first decision was to apply to a four year college and become a professional artist (drawing and painting). That was my first choice, until I started watching cake shows where cake artists showcase their beautiful cakes and pastries. They made their cake work look so easy; but to tell you the truth... it was not easy. My experience with cake decorating through the years had been so difficult to the point where I have my crying moments. My future is to become a Culinary Artist, learn my strengths, weaknesses and realize that failure is not an option.
Before I started cake decorating, I was having trouble thinking of a suitable name for my home baking company. The current name(s) of my cake company were, Miss Dessert Confectionary (3 Years) and Confection Perfection Bakeshop (7 Years). When my beloved Mother lost her battle to Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer in October 2023, I decided to change the name of my company and make it permanent. She was my number one supporter and she helped me make my cake business possible. On August 1, 2024, I have changed the name of my company to, "Tiera Pryor's Sweetshop" because it suits my cake standards very well.
Tiera Pryor's Sweetshop sells not only beautifully decorated cakes, cupcakes and cookie art-the shop also sells daily homemade baked goods. Such as: 6" inch. cakes, sheet cakes, cupcakes, cookies, brownies, muffins, pies and fruit tarts. When I started, I used cake box mixes for my cakes, brownie mixes and look up other recipes on the internet. Throughout the years, I started to create my own recipes, measurements and enjoying my own style of baking. As a culinary artist and business owner using real ingredients, using ingredients with, "contains bioengineered ingredient", is a Huge red flag for me. Before I create my products from scratch, I make absolutely certain I don't buy any ingredient(s) with that label on the package. I want all of my customers to get a good taste of home when they take a bite of my delicious homemade sweet treats.
It would be an honor for Tiera Pryor's Sweetshop to do business with the community serving my amazing baked products. The Sweetshop also create cakes and cupcakes for Church Events, Weddings, Birthdays and Anniversaries. It was a Blessing that I didn't give up on my passion to become an excellent cake artist. Where my desires intertwine art and cake to pursue my business career. Once you order something sweet for your special day, you and your taste buds will not be disappointed.
